Amazingly, in the year in which I have been immuno-suppressed I have managed to avoid all viral infections. Until now that is. I have succumbed to the nasty chest cold virus that has been spreading around here.

Am I right in thinking that I need to make an appointment to see the doc now, and not wait for it to develop into a bacterial infection? I am sure my GP said something to that effect way back.

Yes Paul, you do

My doctor gave me a script for antibiotics just in case o they're ready and waiting should I need them.

So, you get an appointment to see a doctor ASAP.

Yes I have had antibiotics over the holiday as well. Lost voice, really bad cough and sinus (no cold ). I had 1000 mg a day
And apart from the horrid catarrh .

Hope you got ok with the doc

I spoke to my GP today. We are going to wait a while before using antibiotics. At the moment my symptoms are reasonably mild with no sign of any infection, no fever etc so to wade in with AB's at this stage would not be right as all my symptoms are viral, which AB's won't touch.

There's the issue of New Year closure but we are blessed with an excellent 111 service here. I have had cause to call them 3 times in the past and in every case, within an hour, I have been seen by a doctor.

So I am cool with that

Glad you got to speak with your GP, at least you can feel confident in how you are progressing.

Be well soon Paul.
